Dad called again tonight with news. This afternoon my Mom a heart catheterization to fix her heartquake problem. The tip of the catheter had a camera and a radio transmitter designed to zap defective nerves, one of which was causing me Mum's heart to quake. The doctor said there was a 1/300 chance that the nerve that had to be zapped was the main nerve which caused the heart to beat. Well, my family is notorious for beating the odds, and this time was no exception. They zapped the nerve, and her heart stopped beating. Mum, a bit woozy under conscious sedation, thought that the monitor they were all watching stopped moving because the doctor had taken a still-shot of the action. Meanwhile, the doctor was urgently asking her to cough and she felt her hands and feet start to get cold. Being fairly well prepared for such an eventuality, they put in a pacemaker.
A year or so ago, my mom had cataract surgery to replace the lenses in her eyes. If you look in her eyes, there's an extra highlight/reflection. This freaks out my brother Dave, who says it feels like she's zapping him with laser eyes. I guess he's got one more reason to call her "RoboMom" now.
