Strange how much of an approach avoidance conflict I had about my new purchase. I spent all morning doing other things and occasionally moving the computer one step closer to activation. I went so slow on this that it was only by noon that the computer was out of it's box and sitting on my desk chair. I know that this circumspect approach was caused by the tragedy that befell my previous computer back in January, for which I felt somehow partially responsible.

I came back and took the plunge... er, plug. My eyes were wide with wonder as each new view on the screen unfolded. With each mouse click and software installation, I felt like Rumplestiltskin: Falling asleep one day, sleeping for a very long time, and then waking up to find the nature of things about the same, but the application of certain practicalities much further advanced. I'll be exploring for a few weeks to come, and it's going to be a lot of fun.
