  Tele-portation update.

self, market

Every couple of days we've been going into the cingular store to check on our request to "port" our landline line at home to a cellphone for me. (Ironically enough, just calling the store or a given store clerk doesn't work so well, because they are busy helping people that are actually at the store and don't answer their phones, landlines or cells.) We went in again this morning, and the lady called the technocrats-that-be to check on the status of our request. After a few minutes on the phone, she told us that we had put in our request too soon. In order to port a landline, one has to cancel all extra features associated with that phone number, like long distance, call-waiting, caller-ID, voicemail, etc. That was done way back on the ninth, but my mistake was going into the store on that same evening and not waiting 24-48 hours like the porting application form indicated.

So she officially resubmitted the request, and she said that it could go a lot quicker this time. We'll see.
